Postuur pays homage to the site’s past, namely post building X at Berchem Station. This brand new eatery concept from the renowned star chef Bart De Poorter of Pastorale in Reet can accommodate 350 people, and that’s not all. However, it’s not a cafeteria, but a kind of food ‘village’ where everything can be found in one place. From bread and sandwiches to delicious, healthy lunches or ‘salads with a twist’, as they are called.
Postuur refers to the post office – with old post boxes and postal bikes – but also gives form to a vision: a sustainable view of the world and the environment. For example, wood from a 170-year-old beech tree from Meise has been incorporated, real plants are dotted around everywhere, and for acoustics, nine hundred felt leaves have been used to create a unique ceiling. The well-designed interior has no less than 38 running meters of benches in an organic shape. In short, it is all on a par with the hip and funky menu, and it continues through to the outside with aluminium benches. Light but yet robust, that is Postuur.
